Discount Clothes

Price:  Varies
Location: Lot Less

Review:  I really wasn't in the mood to buy any new clothes because my closet is filled with clothes. I also made a silent vow to not buy any new clothes for a year, but Lot Less makes it so hard to live by that.  I bought the black and white top for $5.99 and the red GAP shirt for $2.99. The price just does not get any better than that. Where will you find a GAP shirt for less than three dollars? However, the flip side is that there are no returns on the GAP shirt because it is a final sale.

I also bought a pair of brown gloves to match my winter coat because the cold weather is coming. The gloves only set me back $3.99 and these gloves have cell phone touch screen capability.  I really love this place because you can find odds and ends for cheap. It can be hard to shop here because you have hoards of people surrounding the clothes.  Also, if you see an item you have to buy it right away because it will be gone the next day. I learned that lesson the hard way.

The lines can be long, but they move pretty quickly.  The cashiers are quick and they take credit cards here.  You can return or exchange your items if you have a receipt. I've done it once with no problems.

Result:  I hope I don't blow my next paycheck here.

Essie Nail Polish

Price: 3 for $0.99
Location: Lot Less

Review: I work right next a Lot Less store by my job in Lower Manhattan and it is addicting to walk out with nothing. This store is simply the best because they have everything at discounted prices. I buy gifts for family and friends here such as housewares, beauty, clothes. and food. I tell everyone to buy your items quick because they will be gone by the end of the day.  This particular day, I found Essie products for less and I was sooooo thrilled.  I love painting my nails and they had ESSIE products.  Essie is the best nail polish because they make fabulous colors and the pigments are very rich.  I was over the moon when I found out how cheap these nail polish were - granted they are three seasons old, but still great!  I got a greenish color called Stylnomics which I have no used yet, but I did use Power Clutch and Cashmere Bathrobe. Those are the gray colors on the end.  These three colors were so cheap because the oil had separated, but a good shake and you bring them back to life.  I paid full price of $2.99 for the Essie top coat called Good to Go.  I really love this store because you can find a bargain and I love buying makeup here. Why pay full price when you don't have to?  The Essie products are great and I loved the way my nails glowed.

Result:  You know I'll be back for more nail polish.

Veggie Straws

Price:  $3.89
Location:  Costco

Review: I got these Veggies Straws at my local Costco and they are the best! The whole bag is 25 oz, so that is like a 1lb and half of goodness right there. I ripped open the bag when I got home and I started munching right away. I ate the spinach, sweet potato, tomato, and potato sticks and I could not stop.  I thought the flavors shine through especially the sweet potato. The straw is very crispy and very oily.  Also, they are finished with sea salt and it can get very salty if you eat a lot of them.  I think the traditional veggie sticks are better because these veggie straws are hollow in the middle.  I like a stick because it has a better texture.  I don't know how healthy these are but I can't imagine they are better than regular potato chips.  I guess they are good to eat in moderation, but I like my food in BULK!

Result: Veggie Straws for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

McVitie's Cookies

Price: $0.99
Location:  Jack's World

Review:  Every single time I step into Jack's, I always leave with a goodie. This time the goodies were cookies - Ginger snap and Caramel!  I am so excited to review these cookies because they were a personal favorite of mine. The gingersnap has excellent ginger flavor. You can taste the intensity of the cookie and it goes great with milk. The caramel cookie was also excellent. The cookie was not overly sweet from the caramel, but only the top of the cookie was layered with caramel.  I would frequently eat these cookies as my on-the-go breakfast in the morning. I think the cookies are nutritional, but definitely delicious. McVitie's cookies are the very best (and they are not paying me to say that)!

Result:  I would definitely buy these cookies again in a heartbeat. However, Jack always runs out of goodies very quickly.  Here today and gone tomorrow.

I will always remember these cookies because they were so unexpectedly delicious! I think the price was $0.99 for two rolls of cookies.  I must say, they were worthy every penny.

Calbee Snapea Crisps

Price:  $1.79 a bag
Location:  Fairway Supermarket

Review: This was my first time ever at the Fairway by my job. I never knew what great stuff they have. I found these Snapea Crisps and I am kind of addicted to them. They have less salt content than regular chips and they are not fried either. SO, I think they may be a little bit healthier than most chips out there. The snapea crisp is long and flakey. This is the wasabi ranch flavor and I can taste mostly wasabi, but not the ranch. It is also very light so you can eat it all day long without being weighed down. They taste really delicious as well.  Unfortunately, I was eating these during an outdoor movie at Greenpoint park and my bf finished it all.  I was sorely disappointed, but I can understand since they are so addictingly good!

Result: I definitely approve these snapea crisp and I can't wait to buy more.

Bissli BBQ and Pizza Chips

Price:  $0.99 for two bags
Location:  Jack's World

Review:  I got these Bissli chips for two bags for $0.99 cents at Jack's World. I was literally shocked that they were on sale for so much less because I love Bissli chips. They are made from wheat flour produced in Israel. They have a distinct flavor that I cannot get enough. I like the pizza flavor and it actually tastes like a hint of tomato/cheese pizza. The BBQ flavor is a screwy chip shape and it tasted a bit like BBQ too. The chips are crunchy and oily, and my fingers were soaked in grease. I used to eat these all the time when I lived in DC and they would make so happy on the inside.

However, I found out after reading the ingredient list that the Bissli chips have MSG. No wonder my mouth is so dry and salty after I eat the chips. I have sworn off junk food, so I am not sure I am going to having any more.

Result: These Bissli chips taste so good, but are so bad for me.

Sanuki Udon Noodle

Price: $1.99 for 6 pack bag
Location: Fei Long Supermarket

Review: I found these udon noodles on sale and I am so glad for it. I wanted to make a noodle soup and this is a great product. The noodles cook very fast and they are very springy.  They are not dense or mushy - at least when I cook them. You can definitely use these noodles to make a stir-fried dish, but I mostly use it for noodle soups.

They come in a 6 pack and go straight into the freezer immediately or until you need to use it. I would not defrost it because the noodles turn a different pasty white color.

Result: So glad I found a new brand of noodles!
